Animal Care Worker (except farm)
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Part Time leading Full Time, On Call, Shift, Weekend, Day, Evening
Salary: $11.00 to $13.00 Hourly for 35 hours per week, Other Benefits

Skill Requirements:
Education: Some high school, Completion of high school, Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Certified Dog Master, Master Groomer certification, Animal health course, Dog groomer course, Recognized dog training course, Veterinary assistant course, Not required
Experience: Will train
Work Setting: Animal shelter, Kennel, Pet grooming shop, Retail pet shop, Dog training school
Type of Pets Groomed: All breeds of dogs, Cats, Dogs (small), Dogs (large)
Pet Grooming Experience: Bathing/shampooing, glands treatment, Clipping and styling, Ear cleaning, Flea baths, Nail clipping, Show clipping, Teeth cleaning
Animal Care Experience: Domestic animals/pets (cats, kittens, puppies, dogs, etc.), Hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, etc.
Specific Animal Care Skills: Prepare food and feed animals, Clean and disinfect cages, pens, aquariums, kennels, runs, stall and enclosures, Monitor and document animal behaviour
Dog Training Expertise: Basic obedience, Advanced obedience, Canine behaviour problems/modification, Obstacle agility, Protection work
Weight Handling: Up to 26 kg (50 lbs)
Additional Skills: Maintain inventory and order supplies, Keep records of animals treated, Supervise helpers
Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver's licence
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, Physically demanding, Handling heavy loads
Security and Safety: Bondable, Driving record check (abstract)
