Introduction: An international renowned travel, tourism and leisure company is looking for a Chief Operating Officer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis for their offices in Cape Town. Extremely good compensation package on offer of about R1,2 mil to R1,9 mil per annum (subject to qualification, background and or experience). The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be the member of our companies’ executive team. The successful candidate will handle the day-to-day administration and operation of our business. The COO will have overall supervisory responsibility for all of the entity's operations.

In essence our COO will be our Vice President of Operations. The incumbent will be second in command to the CEO. The COO position is tasked with providing leadership, management, and vision to ensure that our business has effective people, operational controls, and administrative and reporting procedures in place. Our COO must help effectively grow the company and ensure its financial strength and operating efficiency.

Key Performance Areas: The position responsibilities is not limited to the below. Execute strategies developed by top management team. Lead a specific strategic imperative. Show the ropes to management. Complement a CEO’s experience or management style. Provide a partner to the CEO.

Responsible for all areas of business operations which typically includes: Production; marketing and sales; and research and development. Able to oversee business function in RSA AND UK.

Essential Requirements: Relevant qualification / MBA. Experience in a similar position. Industry knowledge would be highly beneficial in the travel, tourism and leisure industry. Experienced in Organizational Behaviour and Design. Able to grow into the CEO role. Understand strategy. Willingness to travel at least 6 times a year (Business Class).

The COO should be able to demonstrate a number of core capabilities and which are not limited to the following: Presence, Exceptional Leadership Skills, Able and willingness to travel about 6 times a year overseas in Business class, Time travelling abroad would be highly beneficial, Courage, Dedication, Passion, Professional, Sociability, Flexibility, Able to work under pressure, Coping skills, Able to work in a team, Exceptional communication skills.
