At Halliday Engineering we work with many industries with a specialized focus on defense, shipping, mining, and power generation sectors within the marine engineering industry. We design, procure, fabricate, and repair plant and marine assets interstate and overseas.

Your role will be key to our growth, supporting us in managing our client needs by applying your experience and trade knowledge to our projects located in our workshop and at various sites located in Sydney.

About You

7+ years of trade experience, a suitable engineering background, or a tertiary qualification in project management.

Prior experience working on defense projects, preferably on Royal Australian Navy (RAN) platforms.

Proven ability to manage and coordinate labor, materials, and project documentation. 

Previous experience on cost estimating and managing budgets up to $1m

Ability to pass a Federal Police check, with existing Baseline Defence clearance preferred though not essential.

Must hold a General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

About the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager(s), this permanent, full-time role’s duties and responsibilities include:

Leading projects on the Garden Island Defence Precinct (GIDP) through all phases from inception to completion. 

Manage labor assignments, materials, and support services to ensure timely and efficient execution of projects.

Oversee project budget(s), from quotation and award through to invoicing.

Manage all project documentation, including development of JSEA/SWMS, permit requests, Problem Identification Reports (PIRs), Opening/Closing reports, and compilation and submission of Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) upon completion of work.

Consult with client(s) and external stakeholders on a regular basis.

Manage work health and safety compliance on site. 

Travel between the site (GIDP) and the main office at Rozelle when necessary.

Support other project managers as/when workload arises.

Confined space

EWP Yellow Card

Dogging/Rigging

Confined Space Sentry

Gas Testing

Leadership training
