About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Technical Assurance, the Principal Discipline Engineer will support BHP’s Copper South Australia Major Projects team with electrical and instrumentation technical expertise in leading engineering strategies, standards, and frameworks. This role will ensure the engineering process and design are optimized and enable safe, efficient construction, commissioning, and operation.
This position will be full-time (Monday to Friday) based in Adelaide.
Your responsibilities will include:
Implement Discipline Engineering strategy, plans, processes, and systems for capital projects
Assure the discipline engineering performed by third parties against fit-for-purpose discipline standards that meet operational, risk, quality and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with Project and other Engineering leaders to ensure the provision of appropriately skilled Discipline Engineering resources, with fitt-for-purpos processes and tools available
Collaborate with Commissioning and Construction, ensuring engineering is developed to support commissioning and construction methodologies, strategies, and systems
Drive adoption of Operation’s discipline engineering standards into the scope and/or collaborates with Operations Engineering to create new discipline engineering standards where required
Integrate and apply internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project with identified opportunities for improvements
Coach and mentors discipline engineering talent and capability
About You
As the successful applicant, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
Relevant experience in Project Management or site operations
Demonstrated extensive experience and technical proficiency in electrical and instrumentation engineering
Ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders, consultants and contractors
Good technical and communication skills, including the ability to analyse data and produce concise reports and presentations
Previous experience in major projects
Solutions focused on a proactive approach to problem solving.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively
Tertiary qualification in Engineering or similar
