Graduate Ecologist—ready for adventure?
Scout Ecology Pty Ltd
Newcastle, Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter, NSW
Environmental, Earth & Geosciences (Science & Technology)
Full-time
$65,000–$75,000 per year
At Scout, we’re on a mission to change the way the world values biodiversity. Grow your career by working on big strategic projects whilst being mentored by senior ecologists in a highly specialized team of experts.
You’ll be part of a fun crew who love using cutting-edge tech to explore wild landscapes and are not afraid to camp, hike, and occasionally get bogged.
Your adventurous career:
We’re after a passionate graduate or early-career ecologist—someone who lights up when talking plant ID, can find beauty in a swamp, and doesn’t mind the occasional leech. You’ll be on the ground (literally), learning the ropes from some of the sharpest minds in the industry while getting hands-on experience across a range of dynamic projects.
At Scout, you’ll work across your project from start to finish—from field to final report. That means getting out there into rainforests, deserts, wetlands, and grasslands—wherever biodiversity calls. When you're not in the field, you’re in our sunny Newcastle HQ, just a stone’s throw from the beach.
You’ll use 3D mapping, drones, and the latest tech to measure and map biodiversity and help our clients unlock landscapes. We’re transparent, real, and outcome-driven—quality is everything.
Are you our next Scout?
You’re curious and self-driven and enjoy being part of a team
Know your way around native vegetation (and are keen to learn)
Have a degree in ecology, botany, environmental science (or similar)
Have some field or volunteer experience (mapping, surveys, bush regeneration).
Focussed on developing your professional career as a consulting ecologist
Communicate clearly, take feedback, and aren’t afraid of hard work (or mud).
We’re offering
Work that makes a difference
Real mentorship from Senior Ecologists who walk the talk
Strategic projects that push your skills and thinking
Fieldwork that takes you to all corners of NSW
A small, expert team that has your back and values your voice
A culture that balances focus and fun—a lunchtime surf clears the head.
And we don’t explore the same site twice—which means your experience is supercharged at Scout.
Ready for adventure?
