About the Role:

Are you passionate about student success and driving equity in education? Curtin University is seeking a Scholarships Advisor - Commonwealth Prac Payment to play a vital role in helping students access financial support and paid placement opportunities.

In this role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of coursework scholarships and sponsorships, including the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) – a government initiative designed to support eligible students undertaking mandatory placements in teaching, nursing, midwifery, and social work. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the full scholarship lifecycle: from establishment and promotion to selection, payment, and reporting.

Through a deep understanding of relevant policies and eligibility requirements such as ensuring recipients are enrolled in an eligible degree, undertaking unpaid placements of required duration, and meeting income and residency criteria – you’ll offer clear, confident advice to students, staff, and sponsors.

This is your opportunity to create real impact by enhancing the student experience at Curtin University and helping break down financial barriers to placement participation. By administering the CPP effectively, you’ll be supporting students in essential professions, contributing to Australia’s future workforce and social wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

Deliver high-quality, customer-focused support by providing accurate, consistent, and timely advice on scholarships and sponsor fee matters.

Coordinate the end-to-end assessment and decision-making process for scholarship applications, including convening selection panels and liaising with sponsors.

Manage student accounts and ensure timely processing of scholarship payments via Finance One.

Monitor academic progress and manage student requests related to deferrals, course changes, leave of absence, load adjustments, completions, and terminations—providing clear advice to students, faculties, and sponsors.

Collaborate with project teams to capture relevant data and verify student milestones and activities related to the Commonwealth Prac Payment.

We are looking for:

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively and sensitively with students, staff, and industry professionals from diverse backgrounds.

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as a team and work independently, taking initiative when needed.

High level management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple complex tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel (including formula creation), with solid experience in database management and processing high volumes of data accurately.

Previous experience working in a tertiary education environment (desired).

Role Requirements:

As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
