Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is looking for reliable and motivated casual hostel workers to join our team and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at our hostel in Tamworth, NSW.

The key duties of the position include:

Multiple casual roles are available, including:

Cooks

Prepare meals and dining areas for residents.

Manage stock—including receiving, rotating, and monitoring food and kitchen supplies.

Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.

Night Attendants

Provide property security and ensure the safety of residents.

Attend to housekeeping duties, including upkeep of common rooms and grounds.

Monitor and authorize the entry and exit of residents, staff, and visitors.

Respond to emergencies when required.

Housekeepers

Perform daily cleaning tasks to maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the hostel.

Maintain adequate cleaning supplies and linen, ensuring appropriate storage.

Regularly inspect rooms for repairs and maintenance needs and report issues to the hostel manager or assistant manager.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and the issues affecting First Nations peoples.

While experience in a similar industry is desirable, what matters most is your ability to work effectively as part of a team.

For Night Attendants: You must be available to work night shifts and be capable of managing emergency situations when they arise.

Eligibility

Prior to engagement, you are required to:

Provide evidence of Australian citizenship.

Undergo, obtain, and maintain a satisfactory National Criminal History Check.

Meet Fitness for Duty requirements.

Hold and maintain an NSW Working with Children Check.
