The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is responsible for training, educating, and representing psychiatrists in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. About the role

This identified position plays a vital role in administering and supporting cultural planning for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander membership and staff.

In this role, you’ll help to foster the college’s commitment to culturally safe, responsive, and accessible psychiatric care by and for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A key focus will be supporting staff in developing and delivering tailored Cultural Support Plans for members who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

You’ll also contribute to the success of key initiatives by coordinating and advising on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-related projects and programs, including (but not limited to) the Specialist Training Program (STP) and the Psychiatry Interest Forum (PIF). Ongoing monitoring, review, and evaluation of progress and outcomes will be central to your work.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will bring knowledge and/or lived experience of the issues impacting access to healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and professionals. You’ll have a deep understanding of culturally safe and respectful engagement, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will also have:

Demonstrated experience in public health, health policy, or a related area.

A strong track record of engaging effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, or organizations.

Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or the legal right to work in Australia.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a National Police Check prior to commencing employment.

A salary range of 65,363–81,755 total remuneration package TRP (inclusive of leave loading and 12% superannuation).
