Join the team at one of the leading public health organizations in Australia!

About the Role

Population Health works to protect and promote the health of the local population. We recognize that many personal, local, and global factors affect health and illness. Our services work with partners to deliver a comprehensive range of high-quality, evidence-based health programs to the population living in the Sydney Local Health District. Ultimately, population health strives to achieve equity of health status and health service utilization across the population.

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and manage the design, delivery, and evaluation of health promotion programs and initiatives that are designed to improve the health of people living in SLHD. The position will contribute to the development and achievement of health promotion strategic directions and operations, be a leader in health promotion practice, and deliver on evidence-informed, innovative health promotion programs and initiatives integrated with other services within the facility, the health system generally, and other strategic partners.

This position operates across all policy areas, and through a senior role responsible for health promotion and research to reduce preventable health risks in the community, some aspects may vary depending on the team (i.e., healthy eating and active living, supportive environments, tobacco control, and smoke-free environments). Where appropriate, disadvantaged populations, in particular Aboriginal and CALD communities, are adequately addressed in health promotion.

These programs will contribute to Population Health’s program of work, in line with the Ministry of Health and Sydney Local Health District’s (SLHD) goals, principles, and strategies, and to meet relevant District key performance indicators. Specifically, the position will drive the overall planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting and day-to-day management of current and future local and statewide health promotion programs.
