The Role

Ventia is looking to engage a marine carpenter to join our Department of Transport contract. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role will see you perform a range of tasks associated with preventive maintenance and repairs on Department of Transport infrastructure such as jetties, wharfs, boat ramps, and maritime buildings along the coast. You will also be applying your trade skills to install, replace, and repair the integrity of facilities. This is a great opportunity if you like working out in the fresh air and enjoy the afternoon sea breeze.

Whilst primarily working within the metro area, this role also has a requirement to travel to remote and rural areas of WA (all coastal) to perform work as required. We are looking for someone who is hard-working, safety-focused, and ready for their next challenge.

This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 07:00am-03:30pm with 1x RDO per month.

The pay rate for this position is 48.20 per hour plus overtime opportunities.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for completing maintenance and repair work on Marine structures

Carry out general maintenance repairs and labouring as required

Minor building asset repairs (locks, doors, etc.)

Ensure Inspection records are completed and maintained for required tasks

Requirements:

Someone physically fit, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn

Carpentry Trade Certificate

WA Driver's License to LR

Forklift Ticket

Construction Induction/White Card

Chain Saw Ticket (desirable but not essential)

Confident working on and around water (rivers, oceans, beaches, etc.)

Experience in a similar role is highly regarded
