Junior Designer
Location: Parramatta
Employment type: Temporary full-time up to 11 months
Salary: $99,398 to $110,271 pa, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading
Your role
The Infrastructure Design and Planning team is responsible for developing design standards that ensure consistency across DCJ’s assets. They also serve as subject matter experts on projects aimed at enhancing these assets, which may include frontline service centers, workplace offices, courts, and out-of-home care facilities.
The Junior Designer will support a range of project research, analysis, reporting, implementation, and administrative activities and provide design subject matter expertise to support the development and delivery of DCJ infrastructure projects, in line with project plans and objectives.
What you’ll do
This full-time junior designer role supports the delivery of infrastructure projects by contributing design input and assisting with a range of project activities across diverse asset types, including service centers, workplace offices, courts, and care facilities.
Under the guidance of senior team members, the role involves attending site visits, supporting the development of design documentation using industry-recognized CAD software (REVIT), and helping ensure alignment with DCJ’s design standards and relevant Australian building codes. Additionally, the role contributes to the ongoing development and maintenance of DCJ design standards also in Revit.
The successful candidate will also assist with administrative tasks such as coordinating meetings, preparing documentation, and monitoring project milestones. This is a growth-focused opportunity for someone with a collaborative mindset, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and build capability within a supportive team environment.
Our team is a dynamic mix of interior designers and architects, most of whom bring valuable experience from the private sector. We’re a group of 12, working collaboratively and coming into the office part-time. Everyone is passionate about their craft, and we actively support each other in learning and resourcing. What we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate is an emerging interior designer or architect with a minimum of 2 years of experience in workplace and/or court design. Proficiency in Revit is essential, along with an understanding of all relevant Australian Standards and the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
