Spill the Beans is a cosy, pet-friendly café located in Linden Park, just around the corner from Burnside Village. We are open daily from 7 AM – 3 PM and proudly serve ST. ALi specialty coffee alongside a broad range of breakfast and lunch dishes. Our kitchen is known for consistent quality, fresh ingredients, and efficient service, making us a favourite brunch destination for locals and their pups.

The Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order supplies, with accurate records.

Monitor quality of dishes during preparation and presentation.

Collaborate with managers, dietitians, kitchen and FOH staff to resolve food preparation issues.

Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard.

Ensure kitchen operations comply with WHS and hygiene regulations.

Demonstrate advanced cooking techniques and train staff in efficient procedures.

Recruit, roster, select, and train kitchen staff.

Oversee and provide feedback on staff performance with reports to the Owner.

Contribute to operational improvements to increase efficiency and service quality.

Skills and Experience

Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) OR at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Previous experience as a Chef in a busy café or hospitality environment.

Strong technical cooking skills and menu development knowledge.

Proven ability to supervise, train, and lead staff.

Good knowledge of food safety legislation and workplace hygiene standards.

Ability to work under pressure while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
