WA College of Agriculture - Denmark is a 450 hectare working farm and educational facility for Year 10, 11 and 12 students offering a wide variety of studies and industry training with an agricultural focus. We attract students from all over the state from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a capacity of around 140 students.
One of five WA Colleges of Agriculture, Denmark is considered a leading light in the achievement of educational and training outcomes for young men and women in a diverse range of agricultural and related fields. We deliver Australian Curriculum courses to Year 10 students and Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses to Year 11 and 12 students. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we deliver Certificate I-III level qualifications in a wide range of industry areas including Agriculture, Automotive, Conservation and Land Management, Engineering, Equine, Forestry and Horticulture.

The Role
The Technical Officer - Agricultural Instruction - Dairy is responsible for assisting with the operation of the College dairy enterprise, including the day to day requirements of the robotic dairy. This may include herd management, rearing newborn and young livestock, pasture allocation, and the operation of various tractor and feed-mixing machinery. Recent experience working in a dairy enterprise is highly desirable as well as experience in artificial insemination of livestock. On-the-job training and support to operate the robotic dairy will be provided. This position includes a shared on-call responsibility for after-hours call outs, reimbursed with an hourly allowance.
While the successful applicant will assist mainly in the College dairy enterprise, they will also be required to assist in other farm enterprises including beef, sheep, pasture management, horticulture, operation of machinery, and infrastructure maintenance. A wide range of general farm skills will be highly desirable for this position.
The successful applicant will provide on-the-job workplace training to Year 10, 11 and 12 students, deliver and assess training in Certificates II & III in Agriculture and be responsible for Occupational Safety and Health requirements. The ability to role model outstanding employability skills and to work with students in a teaching/training capacity is highly desirable.
