Active Education have been leaders in delivering quality school camp programs, excursions, incursions in South Australia for over 30 years.

Our operations are based at Aldinga Beach, on Kaurna land, where we have been delivering Aboriginal Cultural Studies Programs in conjunction with Aboriginal Cultural Guides for three decades.

All our school camp programs focus on building teamwork, resilience and leadership in our unique hands-on curriculum based outdoor experiences. We teach and support students in their learning as they develop new skills and undertake activities such as canoeing, kayaking, bushwalking, aquatics, ecology, Aboriginal culture and journey-based components.

The Roles

We are seeking Outdoor Instructors to join our team in 2026 with several part-time and full-time fixed term contracts and casual positions available.

There is the opportunity for Program Coordinator positions for outdoor professionals with significant and relevant experience.

We will be delivering a wide variety of programs including:

Residential based camp programs throughout South Australia

Day programs delivered at a variety of client sites across Adelaide

Outdoor Education and Adventure Tourism style programs that include journey-based components.

Pay rates will vary depending upon skills, experience and qualifications.

This is a brilliant opportunity for people who are passionate about teaching groups in outdoor environments. The role requires people who are energetic and fun, professional, highly organised, flexible and capable of being part of a diverse team.

You will need to demonstrate:

Outdoor activity safety experience

Group facilitation skills and experience

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Exceptional customer service ability and attention to detail

Initiative and problem-solving abilities, and be

Self-motivated hardworking team players who are willing to take on extra tasks as needed.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Certificate IV or Diploma in Outdoor Leadership (or a related degree) or equivalent experience and competencies.

Demonstrated competency in flat water kayak or canoe

Bushwalking Leader qualification and/or experience and competency

Experience working in a both residential camp style settings and small journey programs across a wide range of age groups (highly desirable)

Knowledge in areas such as Aboriginal Culture, Environmental Ecology, Nature Based Education

Ability to drive a manual vehicle and experience with towing.

Other specialist activity qualifications or competency

MR or higher licence and South Australian Passenger Accreditation
