As we continue to grow our presence in Western Australia, we are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead and develop our Maddington facility.

About the role

Reporting to the Global Operations Manager, the WA Operations Manager will manage day-to-day operations at our Maddington site, providing local support and service to both new and existing customers. This is a hands-on role you’ll lead a small, skilled team of mechanical fitters and administration support staff, overseeing workshop, stores, and field operations while actively driving business growth and customer satisfaction across WA. In this role, you will:

Oversee and coordinate the daily operation of the Maddington facility, ensuring alignment with the business plan and WA growth strategy.

Lead, support and develop the WA team, ensuring a strong focus on safety, quality, and performance.

Manage supply chain and stock control through effective intercompany transfers, purchasing and stores systems.

Ensure facility maintenance, equipment servicing, and compliance with safety standards.

Support business systems (Netsuite, TimeMinder) and assist with implementation and reporting.

Work closely with management and sales teams to maintain and strengthen customer relationships.

Manage local procurement and logistics for parts and equipment.

Coordinate and deliver service, repairs and hire equipment to customers (on and off site).

Monitor competitor activity, prepare reports and identify new business opportunities.

Conduct toolbox talks, manage performance, and uphold company policies and WHS standards.

Support other Hedweld facilities with sales, training, and operational collaboration as required.

What we’re looking for We’re after a practical, people-focused leader with strong operational experience in manufacturing or mining services. You enjoy being on the ground with your team, problem-solving, supporting customers, and keeping operations running smoothly.

You’ll also bring:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, mining, or heavy industry operations.

Mechanical aptitude and hands-on leadership style.

Strong communication and people management skills.

Customer service and sales experience.

Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively across multiple teams.Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel within WA.

(Desirable) Netsuite and CRM experience, warehousing background, forklift ticket, or knowledge of hydraulic, electrical or mechanical systems.
