Join our team as a Carer Support Practitioner, delivering expert guidance and support to foster carers to make a meaningful impact and enhance outcomes for children in care.
The Role
The Carer Support Practitioner is responsible for working in partnership with families, foster carers, DCP and other professionals in a multidisciplinary team setting, providing expert advice and consultation to both specialist and general foster carers. The Carer Support Practitioner will have an understanding of the recruitment, assessment, support and ongoing training and development of foster carers.
The Carer Support Practitioner will have case work/management experience and knowledge of practical and structured in-home consultations, counselling services, trauma-informed practice and therapeutic intervention for children with high and complex needs. The Carer Support Practitioner will work to the program’s KPIs, whilst contributing to a positive and harmonious team culture. The Carer Support Practitioner will have an ability to positively promote the program, assist with fostering events, support groups, as well as deliver information sessions and trainings. The role is based at Seaton, however, requires travel within community for in-home consultations and information exchange sessions.
This is a fixed term opportunity for twelve (12) months.

What you need to bring
Social Work Degree or equivalent and experience in Social Work like roles
Case work/management experience
Valid driver's licence
Safe Environments for Children and Young People certificate
Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check
Experience in working in the ‘In Care’ Sector
Knowledge of therapeutic care frameworks
