Cape Schanck Olive Estate is a family-owned and managed olive grove on the southern tip of the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. We produce award winning extra virgin olive oils and have a small, diverse and sustainably-focused organic market garden providing edible flowers, garnishing, microgreens and vegetables to leading restaurants in the peninsula. We are looking for a passionate Market Gardener/Horticulturist to join our team and help us cultivate high quality produce for our local community

The Role

Employment type: Part-time or full-time (negotiable for the right candidate) Location : Cape Schanck

Key Responsibilities

Plan and execute seasonal planting including germinating and growing

Monitor crop health and implement natural pest, weed and plant disease management.

Maintenance of compost systems, worm farm and and soil health programs

Fertilising and mulching

Irrigation repairs and maintenance and watering

Harvest, wash and pack produce for restaurant orders

Keep garden areas tidy, safe and visually appealing

About You

You are someone who loves growing food, working outdoors and getting your hands dirty

Desired Qualifications

At least 2 years in organic vegetable production ideally with a horticultural qualification . Experienced in no-dig, no till and regenerative agricultural practices.

A horticultural qualification is preferred but not essential for candidates with relevant experience.

At least 25 years of age and Australian citizen

Australian citizenship is required for this position.

Hold a current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Ability to drive a tractor

Basic tractor operation skills are required.

Ability to safely operate a range of garden tools and equipment

Punctual, reliable and self-motivated

Communicate effectively and ability to follow instructions

Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team

Physically fit and comfortable with manual work in all weather

Understanding and commitment to safe work practices
