Safety and Compliance Officer
Safety and Compliance Officer – Transport Operations
We’re looking for a proactive Compliance Officer to oversee and drive compliance across our transport operations. In this role, you’ll ensure adherence to transport laws, safety standards, and internal policies while maintaining records, organising training, addressing compliance gaps and collaborating with key stakeholders.
What You’ll Be Doing
Ensure all fleet and transport operations comply with NHVL, HVNL, Road Transport Laws, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations.
Manage heavy vehicle accreditations, permits, maintenance schedules and compliance documentation.
Investigate and resolve compliance breaches, incidents and non-conformance issues.
Maintain accurate compliance records and support reporting and data entry.
Develop, review, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training materials.
Oversee onboarding and ongoing compliance for employees and subcontractors.
Coordinate and deliver internal and external compliance audits.
Conduct audits of insurance, registrations, licences, and prestart checks.
Analyse fleet performance data to support continuous improvement in safety and compliance.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum 3 years’ experience in transport compliance, auditing or risk management.
Strong knowledge of Australian transport compliance and safety regulations (NHVR, HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, Mass Management, Load Restraint, Maintenance Management).
Experience with transport management systems (e.g, Gearbox, V-Daq, TN 360, Rapid Global, Log Checker etc).
High attention to detail, integrity and objectivity.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage drivers, managers and senior leaders.
Proactive and continuous improvement mindset.

Bondwoods Transport (BWT) established in 1995 is a family owned and operated transport organisation that operates throughout Australia with extreme pride in their fleet of over 50 prime movers - predominately Kenworth and 130 trailers comprising of flat tops, Skel's, side lifters and tautliners in combinations of Semi-trailers, B Doubles and Road trains. Our scope of work includes local and interstate transport, container transport and unpacks, refrigerated, steel transport and storage and distribution.
