This is an exciting opportunity within the Technical Advice Division at Queensland Revenue Office. The Technical Advice Division is responsible for strategically supporting the QRO by delivering high-quality, expert advice on legislation relating to the organisation's functions.
As a Senior Revenue Advisor you will apply solid judgment, analysis, decision making, and technical writing skills on a range of complex interpretation and practice issues relating to taxation, royalty, penalty debt, grants and revenue administration, prepare and issue rulings and provide advice to both internal and external clients.
Your typical day as a Senior Revenue Advisor may include:
Preparing and providing written and verbal advice to stakeholders on novel and complex interpretation and practice issues relating to legislation administered by QRO and related laws.
Undertaking research, preparing papers and making recommendations.
Preparing public rulings and other practice statements.
Issuing private rulings on select matters under the Duties Act 2001.
Issuing legislated rulings that raise complex issues relating to corporate reconstruction.
Coaching and mentoring division staff.
Conducting reviews and quality assurance on internal and external materials.
Establishing, enhancing and managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Actively contributing to team and individual development, and towards building a positive and participative workplace culture.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
High level of experience in statutory interpretation, analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills.
Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, a relevant degree or postgraduate studies in a related discipline would be highly regarded (e.g., law, business or accounting).
