As a Senior Management Accountant with Central Queensland Health, you’ll work alongside Executive Directors and senior leaders, providing trusted advice that shapes clinical, operational and financial performance across our region.

Based in Rockhampton or Gladstone, this AO6 role offers the rare opportunity to combine complex, strategic accounting with meaningful public impact. You’ll analyse trends, manage budgets, identify risks and help leaders see the full financial picture — all in service of delivering great care to Central Queenslanders.

At Central Queensland Health, finance is more than numbers — it's about enabling care. As part of our Management Accounting team, you'll support hospital and community services across the region, helping leaders make informed, confident decisions in a complex healthcare environment.

You'll work within a supportive Finance Division that values integrity, collaboration and continuous improvement. While this role has no direct reports, you'll mentor Management Accountants, contribute to system improvements, and be a key financial partner to your assigned business units.

About the role:

Provide high-level financial advice to Executive Directors and General Managers.

Deliver budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting and variance analysis.

Investigate financial risks and recommend corrective strategies.

Oversee and guide Management Accountants supporting cost centre managers.

Prepare annual budgets aligned with organisational priorities and funding.

Produce accurate monthly reports within strict reporting cycles.

Analyse complex healthcare data and present insights clearly to leaders.

Support business cases, funding submissions and service planning.

Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and practices.

About you:

You bring strong management accounting expertise in a complex environment.

You communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

You're confident partnering with executive and senior leadership teams.

You're analytical, detail-focused and proactive in identifying risk.

You enjoy mentoring others and contributing to team capability.

You value integrity, collaboration and public service impact.

You're adaptable and comfortable working across diverse portfolios.

CPA/CA or a relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable but not mandatory.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to 148,323 p.a. is comprised of:

A salary between 121,360 to 129,998 p.a.

12.75% employer superannuation contribution

17.5% leave loading
