Based at the Glenside Health Campus, this two-year development program provides a solid foundation for nurses beginning their mental health practice, equipping you with the clinical, educational, and operational tools to thrive.
About the Role
As a Graduate Mental Health Nurse, you will deliver direct, comprehensive and recovery-focused nursing care to a designated group of consumers. Under the support and supervision of an experienced preceptor, you will:
Provide high-quality mental health care across inpatient and/or community settings
Contribute to individual case management
Engage in education, counselling and group work as essential elements of consumer recovery
Accept accountability for your own nursing practice and delegation to others
Work within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy, National Standards and SA Health values
This program is designed to help you build confidence and competence as a beginning practitioner, so you can progress toward a meaningful, rewarding career in mental health nursing.
Program Structure and Rotations
Your two-year structured development program includes:
Allocated study days
Access to experienced clinical facilitators
Workplace support from the Nurse Portfolio Lead, including assistance with university requirements, placement negotiations and assessments
Up to two clinical rotations, which may include:
Inpatient Acute Care
Community Mental Health Services

You will be required to hold registration with AHPRA to practice as a Registered Nurse within our organisation and be enrolled in or have commenced an approved course for the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
