The Service Transformation and Change business unit is the engine driving reform and innovation across the Child Safety and Youth Justice Operations Portfolio, ensuring that system improvements are strategically implemented and aligned with the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry and the Youth Justice Reform Blueprint.

This unit leads major change initiatives, policy development, and project delivery focused on uplifting care, enhancing youth justice services, and redesigning service models to better meet the needs of children, young people, and families. By embedding change management capability and connecting reform efforts to frontline expertise and evidence-based practice, the unit ensures that transformation is not only visionary but also practical, sustainable, and responsive to community and workforce input.

About the Role

This role contributes to the development, delivery, implementation and review of strategic and/or operational policies and projects to facilitate organisational change and improvement together with leading strategic stakeholder engagement across Child Safety and Youth Justice Operations, including child safety, community youth justice, and custodial youth justice, to improve outcomes for children and young people in Tasmania.

Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status to Employment

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1 Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) crimes of violence

b) sex related offences

c) serious drug offences

d) crimes involving dishonesty

e) serious traffic offences

2 Identification check

3 Disciplinary actions in previous employment check
