Shifts currently available:

Shifts available across a 7-day roster (weekdays, weekends and public holidays)

Shift times range from 6:00am to 11:00pm

Shift duration, based on customers’ needs and funding, average shift times range from 2 hours to 4 hours

Key responsibilities:

Community access and transport

Social supports

Personal care

Domestic duties

Assisting customers with meal planning, preparation and cooking

Qualifications and Experience:

Certificate III in Disability or Individual Support, or similar qualification (desirable)

Current First Aid, CPR and Manual Handling certificates

NDIS Worker Check and South Australian Working with Children Check

NDIS Online Modules

Desirable additional training and/or experience in (further training will be provided):

Behaviours of Concern

Medication Administration

Complex Care needs to Bowel, Catheter, PEG/PEJ, Dysphagia, Seizure, Epilepsy

Non-verbal communication via assistive technology

Other Requirements:

Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance, and willing to transport customers for community participation

Evidence of the right to work within Australia

Join one of the leading disability support providers in SA.

The Role

Centacare Adelaide metro offers an opportunity for an experienced Disability Support Worker (DSW) to join us on a casual basis. We offer a range of services, including a day options program in Plympton and 24/7 supported accommodation services across various locations in the Adelaide metropolitan area, including Elizabeth, Hectorville, Woodville, and Noarlunga. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality direct care services to our clients and supporting them in achieving their personal goals.

Other responsibilities include:

Supervise and support clients with daily living activities and personal care needs, either individually or as part of a team.

Facilitate community access opportunities for clients, including social events and medical appointments.

Maintain accurate documentation to monitor and report on client progress and health care.

Implement educational, skill development, and social activity programs for clients.

Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing clients' Individual Support Plans to ensure personalized care.

Provide person-centered support tailored to each client's goals and foster increased skill development and independence.

About You

As an experienced support worker dedicated to helping people with disabilities, you will bring a comprehensive understanding of the NDIS Practice Standards and demonstrate a strong commitment to a person-centred approach. Your genuine passion for empowering individuals with disabilities will shine through as you assist them in achieving their goals and fostering the development of new skills.

Other skills and qualifications include:

Certificate III in Disability Services or Individual Support or acceptable alternative

OR

A commitment to undertake a Certificate III in Individual Support within 6 months of starting, and to complete it within 2 years of employment.

Valid (DHS) Working with children check (WWCC) to employers check

Valid NDIS Worker Check

Valid Australian Driver’s Licence

Current First Aid and CPR certification

Ability to comply with COVID-19 vaccination requirements

Completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to New Worker NDIS Induction Modules and Worker Orientation Module

Ability to comply with Centacare Policy COVID-19 Vaccination requirements

Ability and availability to work outside of normal hours, including weekends, overnights and evenings

Must be willing to work extra shifts, as required

Willingness to transport clients either in a Centacare Vehicle or your own motor vehicle and comply with the Grey Fleet Vehicle Contract

Desirable

Experience working with people with a disability and their families

Experience working in community based human service
