Junior Estimator and Planning Engineer

Job Summary: The Planning and Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate project schedules and cost estimates, supporting tendering activities, and controlling project budgets and timelines. The role ensures projects are delivered within approved time and cost while maintaining quality and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities: Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.

Prepare Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), activity sequencing, and resource loading.

Monitor project progress, update schedules, and analyze delays and recovery plans.

Identify critical path activities and recommend corrective actions.

Prepare weekly and monthly planning reports, S-curves, and progress dashboards.

Estimation and Costing: Perform quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.

Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.

Develop Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and pricing breakdowns.

Review supplier and subcontractor quotations and perform cost comparisons.

Support tender preparation, technical and commercial evaluations, and bid submissions.

Cost Control and Budgeting: Assist in preparing project budgets and cost baselines.

Monitor actual costs versus budget and highlight variances.

Prepare cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete reports.

Support monthly progress claims, payment certificates, and variation evaluations.

Coordination and Reporting: Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, procurement, and finance teams.

Participate in project meetings and provide planning and cost updates.

Assist in value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.

Ensure compliance with contract requirements (FIDIC or local contracts).

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.

3to8 years of experience in planning and estimation within construction projects.

Experience in Saudi Arabia construction market is preferred.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.

Strong knowledge of quantity take-offs and cost estimation methods.

Good command of MS Excel for cost analysis and reporting.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Familiarity with Saudi building codes, standards, and FIDIC contracts.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Good communication and coordination skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred: Experience in large-scale projects (residential, commercial, infrastructure).

Primavera or Project Management certification.

Knowledge of Arabic language is an advantage.
