Edith Cowan University

Are you ready to belong to a dynamic community where courage, creativity, and optimism are essential elements of our DNA? At ECU we’re inspired by the incredible achievements of Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament and a lifelong champion of education. Empowered by her legacy, we’re united in our vision to lead the sector in educational experience and expand our impact through world-class research.

Embrace an opportunity to become part of something extraordinary.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) plays a pivotal role in shaping ECU’s strategic direction and decision-making by embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, knowledges and aspirations at the highest levels of governance.

About the Opportunity

In this senior leadership role, you will provide oversight of Kurongkurl Katitjin and the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet, ensuring these areas deliver on their strategic and operational objectives and continue to drive positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

About you

ECU is seeking a confident, contemporary Indigenous leader with a demonstrated track record of senior leadership at an executive or equivalent level, and the credibility to operate effectively within complex institutions. This role suits someone who can be trusted to run with significant responsibilities, exercise sound judgement, and lead with autonomy.

This is an opportunity for a forward-looking leader with energy, ambition and a genuine commitment to building the future. The ideal candidate will bring the right balance of authority and adaptability, someone who can build trust, inspire confidence and invest in succession planning to ensure sustainable Indigenous leadership across the University. With a strong sense of agency and purpose, they will be motivated to create lasting change, foster capability in others, and shape ECU’s Indigenous agenda with momentum, integrity and vision.
