Head of Technology to Digital e-commerce

Company Overview: Our client is a well-established organization operating a portfolio of successful B2C digital commerce brands within a broader enterprise environment.

The business has invested heavily in its digital platforms and technology capability and is now at an important transition point. As the digital portfolio continues to scale, there is a clear need for stronger alignment, delivery confidence, and disciplined execution across a shared technology stack.

To support this next phase, they are seeking a Head of Technology to Digital e-commerce to provide dedicated leadership across their pure-play digital commerce technology function.

Role Overview: The Head of Technology to Digital e-commerce is a senior leadership role responsible for setting technology direction, improving delivery maturity, and strengthening execution across multiple B2C digital brands.

Reporting into senior digital leadership, this role plays a critical part in aligning technology outcomes with business priorities, improving how commitments are set and delivered, and building trust with stakeholders across product, commercial, enterprise architecture, and operations.

The immediate focus of the role is to establish credibility and predictability. Acceleration and scale follow once strong foundations are in place.

This is a complex, multi-stakeholder environment operating within defined enterprise architectural guardrails. Success requires comfort operating in ambiguity, making trade-offs, and owning the consequences of delivery decisions.

Key Responsibilities: Technology Leadership and Direction

Lead technology strategy and platform evolution across multiple B2C digital commerce brands

Own and communicate a clear, credible technology roadmap aligned to business priorities

Drive alignment across shared digital platforms while respecting differences in customer and fulfilment models

Delivery Discipline and Execution

Improve delivery confidence through realistic scoping, sequencing, and commitment-setting

Strengthen delivery maturity, predictability, and transparency across engineering and delivery teams

Ensure technology decisions balance speed, risk, quality, and long-term sustainability

Stakeholder Partnership

Partner closely with product, commercial, enterprise architecture, and operations stakeholders

Enable effective integration with enterprise systems and shared services within established standards

Increase trust and alignment through structured communication and dependable delivery outcomes

Team Leadership

Provide senior leadership to engineering and delivery teams, setting clear expectations and ways of working

Create clarity of priorities, accountability, and decision-making across the digital technology function

Delivery commitments are realistic, well-sequenced, and consistently met

Stakeholders have confidence in the technology roadmap and delivery approach

Technology teams operate with clarity, focus, and shared accountability

Ideal Candidate Profile

Extensive experience in senior technology leadership roles within complex enterprise environments

Strong background in B2C digital commerce platforms, ideally across multi-brand or multi-channel models

Proven track record of owning delivery outcomes in environments with competing priorities

Enterprise architecture mindset, comfortable operating within defined standards and guardrails

High maturity in communication, stakeholder management, and commercial decision-making

Pragmatic, outcome-focused approach, comfortable operating in ambiguity and grey areas

This role does not require a hands-on software engineering background and is not suited to consultancy-only profiles. Candidates must have held accountability for outcomes within an enterprise setting and understand the downstream impact of technology and delivery decisions.
