As the Senior People and Capability Partner, you will play a critical role in delivering VMIA’s People and Capability strategy by strengthening workforce capability, leadership and performance. You will act as a trusted partner to the business, providing strategic and operational people advice across the business.

You will serve as VMIA’s expert authority on employment and industrial relations, providing specialist advice on complex ER/IR matters, organisational change, performance and misconduct processes, and the interpretation of industrial instruments and legislation. You will ensure people practices are legally compliant, procedurally fair and risk-aware, while also contributing to the uplift of organisational capability and the Employee Value Proposition through initiatives that enhance leadership, culture and employee experience.

Work Type to Full Time/ Ongoing 

Salary Range to 167,754 - 186,393 (including super) 

Flexibility to Melbourne CBD office, with a hybrid work model of 3 days a week in the office.

Key responsibilities

Partner with senior leaders as a trusted People and Capability advisor, providing strategic and practical advice across the employee lifecycle

Coach and support leaders to build people leadership capability, manage performance and lead change effectively

Provide guidance on complex employee relations matters

Ensure people practices are fair, com pliant, risk-aware and aligned with VMIA policies, values and legislative obligations

Partner with leaders on workforce planning, organisational design, restructures and evolving ways of working

Contribute to the design and delivery of workforce, talent, succession and leadership development initiatives

Support initiatives that strengthen culture, wellbeing, safe work practices and psychosocial risk management Provide workforce insights and advice to support sound decision-making and governance

Contribute to the uplift of capability across the People and Culture function through collaboration, coaching and continuous improvement

What we are looking for

Experience in HR, with strong capability in business partnering, workforce planning and employee relations

Solid experience managing complex employee relations matters with sound judgement and a practical, balanced approach

Confidence advising senior leaders on sensitive and high-impact people matters 

Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety, including psychosocial risk management

Demonstrated ability to p rovide independent, defensible advice to senior leaders and engage external legal advisers where required

Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholders

Proven ability to coach and influence leaders on complex people matters and change management

Experience delivering people initiatives or projects that improve capability, leadership or employee experience

Ability to use workforce data and insights to inform decisions
