City of Moreton Bay is a strong and connected community, nestled across coastal and hinterland landscapes that enjoy a pristine natural environment. It boasts award-winning commercial, educational, medical, leisure and residential precincts. The Council is the third largest and a rapidly growing local government area in Australia. A new organisational structure sees a functional realignment of the managerial framework to support the City’s forecasted growth and positioning to provide services to over 1 million residents post 2050.

Reporting to the General Manager – The Manager is accountable for working in partnership with other areas of Council to make a significant contribution to improved economic and social outcomes for the City by providing strategic leadership and governance over the initiation, planning, design, and delivery of high-value, complex projects and precinct-shaping initiatives for the City.  Your opportunity is to help shape the growth of the region through innovative infrastructure projects and programs which will benefit the community, while protecting the natural spaces, and maintaining the lifestyle residents enjoy.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

Develop and implement strategies to optimise and diversify revenue through strategic initiatives.

Project Director level leadership of the strategic developments and designated community precinct of Moreton Bay Central

Develop partnerships with the private sector in the City of Moreton Bay to seek strong commercial outcomes for Council.

Closely monitor political, economic, industry, employment and social trends and developments which may impact on current Council operations.

Build and develop a cohesive and high performing team that is aligned to business needs and is characterised by teamwork, respect for others, ethical decision making, innovation and flexibility

Translate Council’s growth management strategies and emerging city-shaping opportunities into actionable precinct strategies.

Initiate, provide and create consortium strategy’s which enhance major project opportunities for the City of Moreton Bay.

Create and establish governance structures for major precinct programs, ensuring alignment with Council’s integrated planning and performance frameworks.

Oversee procurement, tendering, commercial negotiations and contractor performance for major precinct and infrastructure packages.

Ensure value-for-money and financial stewardship consistent with Council’s commitment to investing capital.

Foster teamwork, innovation and a culture of excellence by working closely with coordinators and team leaders.

You will champion a values-based leadership approach which delivers a productive, safe and collaborative work environment, modelling high standards of conduct, performance and behaviour. The role requires a demonstrated ability to lead a range of staff to deliver on and exceed priorities whilst maintaining excellence in service.  Significant success (10+ years) at management level in a similar position along with tertiary qualifications, are highly desirable.

You will possess exceptional leadership skills and can clearly develop and translate Council’s objectives, policies, plans and strategies to internal and external stakeholders. Your strong sense of judgement and astute decision-making skills along with a strong customer ethos are imperative to the success of this role.
