Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for managing the school’s financial reporting, compliance, and month-end and year-end processes. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audit preparation, and driving continuous improvement in financial systems and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Preparation of monthly financial reports, reconciliations, and journal entries

Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end audits

Monitor compliance with the Australian accounting standards, internal controls, and policies

Support budgeting and forecasting processes

Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making

Work collaboratively across departments to manage finance-related queries and issues

Provide informal mentoring and support to the transactional AP team

Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate coding and data integrity

Key Selection Criteria Required

Minimum 3-5 years of financial accounting experience

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including MS queries

Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines

Demonstrated ability to work proactively in a confidential, fast-paced environment

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A strong attention to detail and accuracy

Highly organised with a structured and methodical approach

Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children (Child Safety)
