Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated and compassionate Geriatrician to join a progressive Department of Medicine within a well-established regional health service. This role offers the chance to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care to an ageing and culturally diverse population, while contributing to the continued development and expansion of contemporary geriatric services.

The position provides senior clinical leadership across acute, subacute, and community settings, with involvement in innovative models of care for frail older adults. These include rapid access frailty pathways, virtual geriatric services, cognitive and behavioural assessment services, orthogeriatric collaboration, rehabilitation programs, and consultant oversight of a dedicated Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) unit. There is a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration, service innovation, and improving outcomes for older people across the care continuum.

Hospital

The hospital is a major regional referral centre providing comprehensive medical and surgical services to a large and expanding catchment population. Geriatric services within the Department of Medicine are well established and continue to evolve in response to growing community needs.

The service is supported by experienced multidisciplinary teams and maintains strong integration across acute, subacute, ambulatory, and community care pathways. A clear focus on quality improvement, collaborative practice, teaching, and service development makes this an ideal environment for specialists seeking both clinical diversity and leadership opportunities. Requirements

Specialist registration with AHPRA and Fellowship of the RACP (Geriatric Medicine)

Trainees in the RACP Geriatric Medicine program receiving fellowship 2026/ early 2027.

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) with a confirmed RACP interview date

IMGs assessed by RACP as substantially comparable

UK CCT and New Zealand trained specialists

Sri Lankan Geriatric Consultants with Australian or UK experience
