The Team:

The Occupational Therapy team at the Department of Health Tasmania provides a wide range of services to support individuals across all ages and abilities in achieving independence and improving their quality of life. Based in Launceston, the team operates within the broader Tasmanian Health Service and offers:

Inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services

Assessment and intervention for daily living skills, mobility, cognitive function, and environmental modifications

Support for people with disabilities, chronic conditions, and mental health challenges

Specialist programs, including diversional therapy and play specialist services in some regions

Occupational therapists work collaboratively with clients to:

Develop or regain essential life skills

Adapt environments to meet individual needs

Promote participation in meaningful activities (occupations)

The Role: Be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

You will need to: Undertake the delivery of quality care to clients of the Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment and Older Persons Mental Health Service based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.

Provide a specialist assessment and treatment service to clients of Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment and Older Persons Mental Health Service and their families or carers.

Promote community awareness in relation to mental health and act as a consultant to other agencies with regard to the support and management of clients with mental health needs.

Details of appointment: Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible, notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: 110,425 to 121,907 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

Allowances:

Please note that access to salaries beyond 119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Professional Development Allowance of up to 1000 per annum

Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Occupational Board of Australia

Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment.
