About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Counselling, Clinical, Educational or Developmental Psychologist to provide support to children and families enrolled in our Talkabout Program.
Our Talkabout Program is a specialised early intervention program for 2, 3, 4 and 5 year old children with speech and language delays that provides a language-rich environment and approach to supporting children and their families.
Reporting to the Principal, the Psychologist will provide hands on support in a collaborative and welcoming team environment, to identify and address the psychological, social, emotional, behavioural and cognitive needs of the children and families.
The role offers genuine autonomy to manage your day independently, the ability to provide incidental as well as formal intervention to families, and the capacity to use your knowledge and experience to undertake continuous improvement work.
This is a part time position job share position working 15 hours per week –either over two days (Thursday, Friday) or three days (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) per week.
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
Solid experience working with children, young people and their families
Familiarity with and a commitment to providing evidence-based psychological interventions appropriate to presenting psychological issues
Ability to conduct psychometric and standardised assessments to establish appropriate intervention goals and recommendations relevant to the needs of the enrolled child
Ability to work collaboratively with parents and provide parents with sensitive information, in a supportive, positive and understanding manner
Ability to respond empathically to students and/or parents in distress and to manage crisis situations
Effective counselling and therapeutic skills at both an individual and group level
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of childhood development delays, disabilities and disorders
Evidence of strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to enable professional interaction with a range of people including parents, visitors, management and other TSH staff
You will possess the following qualifications:
A tertiary qualification in Psychology
You must also:
Hold current provisional or full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA.
Current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.
