Staff Specialist to Psychiatrist (Multiple Vacancies Statewide)

The Department of Health (DoH) is seeking experienced and dynamic Staff Specialists to Psychiatrists to join our multidisciplinary Mental Health Services team in North-West Tasmania, with opportunities across other locations statewide.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality mental health care in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, agency policies, legal requirements, and relevant professional competencies.

The role:

Provides comprehensive general inpatient and community psychiatric services in the north west region of Tasmania.

Acts as a consultant to mental health professionals and health service providers, including general practitioners and other agencies, regarding the assessment and management of individuals with mental health disorders.

Undertakes supervisory responsibilities with Registrars/Career Medical Officers, Resident Medical Officers and other medical staff as required/appropriate.

Location: Burnie, Tasmania

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, with on-call roster as and when required, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible, notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- 11, Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 216,300 to 310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation.

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range 300,216 to 310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to 9,010 and 2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.

Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle.

Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%

Continuing Professional Development Allowance of 16,480 per annum

Travel and relocation assistance support available up to 15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to 10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.
