About the Position:

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced candidate to join the Shire of Broome as our Work Health and Safety Officer.

In this role you will coordinate key work health, safety and wellbeing related activities across the organisation to drive a positive safety culture. This includes managing the continuous improvement and monitoring of the WHS and Wellbeing systems that underpin all activities, programs and initiatives across the Shire.

The Work Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for:

Monitoring incident and hazard reports and investigations and overseeing response to workplace incidents

Proactive site inspections, observations and audits

Contractor Induction and employee drug and alcohol testing

Analysis and reporting of WHS data to identify issues and trends

Maintenance of safety systems and training program and

Supporting management and staff with WHS advice

About You:

Our ideal candidate will be qualified in WHS with a high level of proactive safety promotion and experience in:

hazard identification, risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations

interpreting and applying safety legislation

analysis of WHS data and information to identify trends and solutions

consulting with staff and management to improve safety performance and culture

In addition to these skills, you will have the ability to be organised and maintain accurate records.

About the Shire:

88K -93K base salary per annum. (depending on skills and qualifications)

In addition to base salary there are generous allowances Broome location allowance 11,414 or Broome Home ownership allowance 18,616 and employer matched superannuation co contributions up to 3.5%
