About Us: DCC specialises in 24-hour residential care, allied health, outreach support, community access, supervised family contact, and transport. It is dedicated to creating a warm, friendly home environment for our children and young people and empowering them with the skills needed to live independent lives.

About the role: In this role in Dalby, you will be working as part of a dynamic care team, providing both youth support and disability support services to children and young people in DCC care. Our young people may have a range of additional needs, including ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), language disorders, and reactive attachment disorder.

You will be responsible for offering compassionate, trauma-informed care and supporting each young person’s individual development and well-being. This includes assisting with personal care needs such as meal preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, medication administration and accurate medication data recording, skill development and socialisation, and providing transport to school, appointments, and community-based activities.

As part of supporting children and young people with complex communication needs, you must be willing to use a variety of communication tools, including audio devices, pictorial aids, and PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) communication books. Full training will be provided by qualified therapists to ensure that every member of the care team is equipped to deliver consistent, high-quality support tailored to the unique needs of each young person.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and young people by empowering them to achieve their goals in a supportive, nurturing environment.

About you: The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and young people, is a strong role model, doesn’t take things personally, and can support children and young people to explore themselves and their culture while demonstrating strong personal values. People with lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Availability: We're seeking candidates with flexible schedules, available for a mix of day, night and weekend shifts as needed. These positions require work across 24/7 rotating rostered shifts, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.

What’s on offer: Casual and PPT employment opportunities. Sleepover allowance. Penalties and allowances in line with the SCHADS Award. Flexible roster. No use of personal vehicles whilst on shift. Post-crisis debriefing and suitable access to EAP services. Cultural Practice Advisors to support you with applying culturally appropriate practices. Professional development and training opportunities provided by suitably qualified industry professionals and trained therapists.

Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or able to obtain. Able to obtain a satisfactory LCS (Child Safety) check outcome. Able to obtain a cleared national police check. Current Australian driver's license: Opens or P2. Current First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) is highly desirable but not essential. If this sounds like an opportunity for you, apply below.

We are proud to be an Indigenous-led organisation, and we value diversity and are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and culturally respectful workplace for all. We have zero tolerance for discrimination and uphold the highest standards of child safeguarding in line with the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (Qld).

We welcome candidates from all cultural backgrounds, abilities, genders, and identities who share our commitment to child safety, cultural safety, and the wellbeing of children and young people.
