Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of People and Culture to lead our trusted People and Culture team, providing advice, guiding workforce initiatives and enhancing organisational performance.

About the role
Reporting directly to the Chief of People and Mission, as the Head of People and Culture, you will be joining our broader People and Mission leadership team.
In your role, you will lead a mature People and Culture function responsible for:
Human Resources Business Partnering
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
Workforce Planning
Learning and Organisational Development
Employee and Industrial Relations
Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Payroll
Rostering Support
People Analytics and Workforce Reporting
Policy Development and Governance
Leadership Development
Performance and Talent Management
Employee Engagement and Culture Initiatives
The successful candidate will join SCCQ during an exciting period of growth, workforce transformation and organisational development.
Key priorities include:
Delivering our Workforce Sustainability and Capability Strategy, including PALM and international recruitment
Supporting workforce growth following recent acquisitions
Strengthening leadership capability across the organisation
Driving recruitment and retention outcomes
Continuing development of SCCQ's Employee Value Proposition ("You Matter")
Advancing workforce analytics and reporting capability
Supporting cultural transformation through our "Known and Loved" philosophy
Managing enterprise agreement implementation and industrial relations initiatives
Supporting workforce capability in response to ongoing aged care reforms
Leading change effectively to ensure the workforce can successfully adapt
What will you bring to the role?
We are seeking an applicant able to bring senior People and Culture leadership experience with strong understanding of industrial relations, enterprise bargaining strategy, union engagement, award interpretation and workplace relations risk management.
Having successfully operated in large, complex and highly regulated environments you will be bringing a collaborative and pragmatic approach, balancing strategic thinking with practical implementation while building strong relationships and influencing outcomes across a geographically dispersed workforce.
Experience that will be highly regarded includes:
Aged care, healthcare, community services or related human services sectors
Enterprise bargaining and industrial relations leadership
Leading multi-disciplinary People and Culture functions
Organisational development and cultural transformation
Workforce strategy and workforce planning
Change management and integration programs
Executive-level stakeholder engagement
Leading geographically dispersed workforces
Building high-performing people and culture teams
Who is Southern Cross Care Queensland?
Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation established by the Knights of the Southern Cross, more than 40 years ago. They saw a need to provide compassionate care and inclusive service to some of the most vulnerable, the ageing population, in the community.
Since then, SCCQ has grown to employ over 1800 staff caring for and supporting more than 3000 people across 17 residential aged care homes, 8 retirement villages, 28 social houses, the National Disability and Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and home care services in metropolitan and regional Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.
