About the school

This well-established Catholic secondary school in Melbourne’s outer east has a strong connection to its local community and a proud history grounded in the Mercy tradition.

The College is committed to providing an inclusive, values-led education while continuing to strengthen its connections with students, families, alumni and the broader community.

The Opportunity

This is a newly created role offering the successful applicant an opportunity to build the College’s advancement function from the ground up.

Working closely with the Head of Marketing, you will develop and deliver initiatives that strengthen enrolments, improve student and family retention, engage the College’s alumni community and generate new sources of income.

A key priority will be establishing a more structured philanthropic model, creating meaningful opportunities for Old Collegians and other members of the College community to contribute to its future.

The role would suit a commercially minded relationship-builder who can balance strategy with hands-on delivery and is motivated by the opportunity to create something with lasting impact.

What you will be leading

Building and maintaining a strong domestic enrolment pipeline across all year levels

Supporting initiatives that strengthen student and family retention

Developing a long-term advancement and philanthropic strategy

Building stronger relationships with alumni, Old Collegians and the wider College community

Identifying opportunities for fundraising, partnerships and other income-generating initiatives

Working collaboratively with the Head of Marketing to ensure enrolment, communication and engagement activities are aligned

Establishing the systems, processes and measures required to support a sustainable advancement function

What you will need

Experience across advancement, fundraising, philanthropy, enrolments, business development or a related area

A demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify and develop income-generating opportunities

The capacity to develop strategy while remaining actively involved in implementation

Excellent communication, engagement and stakeholder management skills

Strong organisational capability and the confidence to establish new systems and ways of working

An understanding of the education or not-for-profit environment would be highly regarded

A genuine alignment with the values and purpose of Catholic education

Why consider this opportunity?

This is an opportunity to shape a newly created position and establish an advancement function that will directly support the College’s future growth and sustainability.

You will join a supportive environment, work closely with key leaders across the College and have the scope to make a visible and lasting contribution, while benefiting from seven weeks of annual leave each year.
