About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lead Cyber Advisor specializing in ICT Disaster Recovery and Cyber Resilience for an 18-month contract (with extension option) with a high-profile Federal Government agency. Start date: October 2026.

PLEASE NOTE: Australian Government experience is a mandatory requirement for this role. If you do not have direct experience working within an Australian Government organization, please do not apply.

The role is available to candidates based anywhere in Australia, with hybrid working arrangements (minimum days per week onsite at your nearest office).

About the Role

As the Lead ICT Disaster Recovery and Cyber Resilience Specialist (EL1 equivalent), you will:

- Design, implement and maintain enterprise-level ICT Disaster Recovery capabilities including DR plans, technical recovery runbooks, testing programs and governance arrangements

- Develop and maintain ICT DR Strategy, Policy and Standards

- Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA), system criticality assessments and recovery prioritisation

- Lead DR testing programs including tabletop exercises, test execution and post-mortem reviews

- Integrate DR requirements into architecture, project delivery and operational processes

- Provide strategic risk advice and security assurance to senior executives and decision makers

- Lead and mentor junior staff and manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships

- Align DR practices with NIST 800-34, ISM, ISO 22301 / 27001 and enterprise risk frameworks

What You'll Need

Essential — you must meet ALL of the following: Minimum 5 years' experience in ICT Disaster Recovery, technology resilience or cyber security

Direct experience working within Australian Government organization’s (mandatory — do not apply if you do not meet this requirement)

Demonstrated experience developing DR strategies, policies, standards or governance frameworks

Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, enterprise architecture, cloud environments (Azure, AWS, SaaS) and cybersecurity principles

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:  Knowledge of PSPF, ISM and Essential Eight

 Experience with BIA, RTO/RPO frameworks and recovery prioritisation

 DR integration with cyber security, incident response or crisis management functions

 Cloud-based continuity best practices

Clearance and Eligibility

- Australian citizen (mandatory)

- Must be eligible to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) clearance
