About the role
Our client is seeking for a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join a major sustaining capital project team within the resources sector. Working as part of an integrated project team, this position will support the delivery of construction activities while driving strong safety outcomes across contractors, project personnel, and stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager on site, you will provide frontline HSE leadership, coaching, and support to ensure compliance with project requirements, legislative obligations, and best practice safety standards. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong field presence and the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the project team.
Key responsibilities
Provide Health and Safety support and advice to project teams and contractors.
Promote a positive safety culture through visible leadership and ongoing engagement in the field.
Conduct workplace inspections, audits, observations, and critical control verifications.
Lead and support incident investigations, hazard identification, and risk assessment activities.
Monitor contractor compliance with project HSE requirements and legislative obligations.
Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness initiatives.
Ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed out in a timely manner.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of project HSE systems and processes.
Prepare safety reports, performance metrics, and documentation as required.
Liaise effectively with client representatives, contractors, and project stakeholders.
About you
Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in senior HSE advisory roles within construction, mining, or resource sector projects.
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, industry standards, and contractor management.
Experience conducting incident investigations, audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
Understanding of Critical Risk Management principles.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to influence safe behaviours and build strong working relationships across diverse teams.
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
