Here’s what you’ll be up to Operate Council vehicles, minor plant, tools and equipment safely across Public Spaces Maintenance service areas.
Support public space maintenance through general labouring duties, waste disposal and traffic control where required.
Use Council mobility applications, devices and future technology enhancements to support accurate work records and efficient service delivery.

What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who takes safety seriously, shows good judgment on site and brings a practical, reliable approach to every task.
You’ll be someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work, is confident working with plant, tools and equipment, and is willing to pitch in wherever the team needs support.
You’ll communicate clearly, work well as part of a crew and take pride in delivering quality outcomes for the community.
Experience in public space maintenance, local government, cleaning operations, horticulture or traffic control would be highly regarded, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
The must-know bits
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.
Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements
Essential
Current Class C driver licence
Knowledge of all aspects of operation and maintenance of trucks, vans, ride-ons and trailers including loading, securing and unloading (both mechanical and manual means)
Demonstrated experience in general labouring duties
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
Competencies in the use of various items of small plant
Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White) Card
Knowledge of and commitment to WHS and EEO principles Desirable
Experience in public space labouring activities
Tertiary qualification in Horticulture, cleaning operations or related area
Current Traffic Controller card (Blue ticket)
Previous experience in Local Government
