The Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton (WRSE) is seeking a creative, dynamic Executive Director to successfully lead the organization through a period of growth and development. WRSE is a non-profit, nonpartisan, charitable organization that provides compassionate care for injured and orphaned wildlife and educates the public on the importance of wildlife in the community.

Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will act as a leader for the entire organization. As a part-time position, this leadership focuses on public engagement, partnership development, and organizational leadership. The ED must be capable of creating a vision for growth while directing and implementing an ambitious strategic plan. The ED must possess exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

The ED will:

    Provide vision and strategic leadership advancing the organization’s goals.
    Represent and increase the profile of WRSE within the community through community engagement, media, government relations, committee work, and expanding relationships within various sectors.
    Lead the organization through an exciting period of growth and change.
    Create and implement strategies that will provide a diverse and sustainable core funding base.

Qualifications:

    Proven organizational, management, financial, and project management skills.
    Ability to work in collaboration with government, stakeholders, and partners.
    Experience working with a board of directors and volunteers.
    A degree or relevant experience in business or human resources management.
    Minimum of five years of leadership experience in not-for-profit organizations, coupled with a strong understanding of government-funding support.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with the ability to present in a clear, professional, and composed fashion.
    Experience working with wildlife or in a related field is deemed desirable.
