Legal Associate Vacancy Information Department, Duties and responsibilities: Performing routine legal functions under minimal supervision, Preparing and drafting of correspondence including responses to client enquiries, routine correspondence, accounting enquiries in accordance with client standing instructions, Dealing with incoming correspondence and enquiries regarding pending matters, Knowledge / understanding of laws of other African countries – must be able to review foreign legislation and make decisions / recommendations to clients / agents, Assisting with recordals in African countries i.e. changes of name, assignments etc, Dealing with urgent matters and client specific requests, Reviewing and responding to incoming correspondence, Reviewing local legislation to determine answers to specific problems and also as part of specific projects i.e. writing books and articles for publication, Preparing affidavits and reports of a general nature, Running a diary, Requirements, Skills and knowledge, Must have a legal background (3-5 years in the legal profession would be a distinct advantage) but no patent / technical qualification necessary, Must not be afraid to learn new things, Must be able to write legally sound letters of a high quality, Ability to think critically and logically, Ability to speak/read French / Portuguese or Arabic would be a distinct advantage, Ability to work in a highly professional and organized manner with little supervision / management, Possibility of travel within Africa therefore must have a valid passport and be able to travel
