This role is responsible for quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community within Connected Families - an Intensive Family Support Service.  This position will provide planned support to referred families with a view to supporting highly vulnerable families to become stronger, capable and more resilient and improving overall wellbeing.

Connected Families is an Intensive Family Support Service funded by the Qld Government as part of the Stronger Families Initiative.  Connected Families will assist vulnerable families to address multiple and/or complex needs and build their capacity to safely care for and protect their children.  Engagement with families includes active participation by the family in case planning with a focus on strengthening the protective factors within the family.

Mercy Community Services SEQ Limited is a Not-for-Profit Catholic Ministry owned by the Brisbane Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy and established to support and empower people who are poor, vulnerable, marginalised or in a position of disadvantage.  We provide a range of programs delivering compassionate and responsive human services in the areas of family support, child protection, counselling, multicultural community support, family mental health, community and residential-based aged care, disability support, employment and training in Queensland.

Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) is a not-for-profit organisation located in Ipswich servicing the local government areas of Ipswich City Council, Somerset Regional Council (excluding Kilcoy), Lockyer Valley Regional Council and Scenic Rim Regional Council (excluding Beaudesert). Since April 1994 DVAC has been committed to working towards the prevention and elimination of domestic and family violence.  To this end, DVAC supports women, young people and children who are experiencing or who have experienced domestic and family violence, supporting men who are actively committed to behaviour change as well as providing information and education to the communities at large.

Kummara Association Inc. is an Indigenous organisation established in 1999 to provide support to vulnerable families at risk. The organisation’s objective is to support the long term wellbeing and resilience of Indigenous children and families. Kummara offers many programs and works in partnership with families for the achievement of independence and strengthening of the family’s capabilities.

Ipswich Independent Youth Service Inc. (IIYS) was established in 1982 as part of a community lead strategy to address the needs of young people in the Ipswich area experiencing homelessness. Current programs include Crisis Accommodation, Mobile Support (to young people aged 25 and under in Ipswich LGA, and extending to Lowood & Laidley), Supportive Share Housing, and Information & Referral.  We believe that 'Young People Can' and we walk alongside them while they learn how.

The Role: This role is responsible for quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community within Connected Families - an Intensive Family Support Service. This position will provide planned support to referred families with a view to supporting highly vulnerable families to become stronger, capable and more resilient and improving their overall wellbeing. The role will include:

Work collaboratively with the Caseworker in relation to each family’s individual circumstances.

Engage family members in a respectful manner that promotes dignity and encourages self-determination.

Actively assist parents to adopt safe, acceptable and effective parenting strategies that nurture healthy child development.

Apply the Queensland Child Protection Guide, Practice Framework and Common Assessment Tools to make family related assessments.

To be successful you will possess: Relevant qualifications (certificate or higher) or experience in working with children and/or families in relation to complex issues. Demonstrated significant experience within a similar role. Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS Word and Excel. Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver Licence. Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.

What We Offer: This permanent full time position offers a competitive remuneration package in line with the MFS EBA $47,318 or $57,071 depending on qualifications and experience.
