This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dedicated volunteer manager to use their strong volunteer management experience to develop and implement the goals and objectives of volunteer management, promotion and engagement at MS.

Multiple Sclerosis is a highly effective organisation supporting people affected by Multiple Sclerosis (MS), their families and carers. Through a network of community based centres as well as live-in residential facilities and home support, MS and its dedicated volunteers and staff are an essential element assisting Australians affected by MS to maintain their quality of life.

Purpose: with 4,000 amazing volunteers contributing their time in all areas of our business, this role will work with all departments to develop an overarching volunteer program framework that provides a wonderful volunteer experience and effectively supports MS’s strategic objectives and our Mission to support people affected by MS to Face the Challenges & Retain the Dreams.

You will be responsible for: Developing and reviewing the Volunteer Programs across MS; including policies, procedures, training, recognition and resources to ensure the provision of high quality volunteer services. Leading and facilitating effective and planned change to improve volunteer services that support operational effectiveness and efficiency. Developing and implementing volunteer management goals and objectives promoting and engaging volunteers. Providing guidance, support and resources to volunteer managers and coordinators

Coordinating and Chairing the Volunteer Management Committee and Volunteer Working Groups

Ensuring risk management strategies are in place including occupational health and safety measures, insurance coverage and volunteer screening processes that are consistent with whole of business processes and legislative requirements

Working in collaboration with IT services to ensure a whole of organisation volunteer record keeping system

Essential: Significant demonstrable experience in a similar role in the volunteering sector, Demonstrable knowledge of current trends, resources. legislation and best practice related to volunteerism, Strong and effective interpersonal; and verbal and written communication skills, Significant experience in planning and coordination, Demonstrable experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and participating as an integral part of the HR team, Proficiency using a wide range of IT applications, Self-motivation and enthusiasm

Desirable: Some HR management experience, The successful applicant will be offered a two-year, part-time, fixed-term contract. Initially the role is 3 days per week for the first six months, reducing to 2 days per week for the remainder of the fixed-term contract.
