The Opportunity: Reporting to the Manager, Helpline and Community Training, the Community Trainers are deliver education programs to the community and within child based organisations.  These may be schools, child care centres, early learning centres, community services organisations and organisations wanting to become child safe through the Child Wise Certification program.

The training participants include child care workers, parents and carers, organisational staff, members of the public and children and youth.

Child Wise Training programs are both standard and tailored and range between 2 hours to 2-3 day programs. They are delivered throughout Australia.

The role will work collaboratively with the Manager, Helpline and Community Training and other Child Wise staff to improve knowledge bases, appropriate services and materials in line with the Child Wise Helpline and Training service requirements.

Responsibilities: Facilitating education programs and responding to training enquiries in line with ChildWise offerings and community client needs. Provides subject matter expertise in the development of ChildWise material including learning plans, objectives, content and workbooks. Responds to participants requests and disclosures in an empathic manner and ensure support and/or crisis intervention. Identifies participants for follow-up and accurately completes participant evaluations, documentation/reports. Provide training to organisations in the prevention of child abuse. Provide subject matter expertise in the development of ChildWise training program material including learning plans, objectives, content and workbooks. Deliver engaging programs to ensure the program developed meets learner’s objectives and expected outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria: If you meet the following criteria we would love to speak to you. Tertiary qualification in social science, education, counselling, and psychology is essential. demonstrated track record in providing community based training, Thorough understanding of trauma and the impacts on children. a strong commitment to professional development and enhancing skills and knowledge in the area of childhood abuse and child protection. Appropriate Australian work visa. Prepared to undergo a national criminal record check. Hold a current working with children check. Ability to work out of normal hours work - and ability for the flexibility to travel interstate would be advantageous, Specialisation in indigenous, disability and CALD communities training would be advantageous but is not essential, Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment and/or significant experience as a Trainer in the community services sector.
