Senior Finance Officer

The Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI) is a unique research institute in Australia as it is a jointly funded initiative of UQ and Agri-Science Queensland and Biosecurity Queensland, part of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF). QAAFI conducts research and development to benefit the food and fibre sector both nationally and internationally.

The Institute's strengths are reflected in its three research centres – the Centre for Plant Science, the Centre for Animal Science and the Centre for Nutrition and Food Sciences.  QAAFI brings together scientists from UQ and DAF to conduct high-end science that delivers higher impact outcomes for industry and the community.

QAAFI offers postgraduate programs in the disciplines of Plant, Animal and Food sciences internally and externally and provides professional training to both Australian and international students.

The role: This position will primarily provide high level support to the Institute Finance Manager with the day-to-day research finance administration of the Institute. Your duties will include but are not limited to: Budgeting, forecasting and reporting, ensuring financial sustainability, and providing University financial policy and procedure advice. You will also assist in supervising a Finance Assistant

The person: Applicants should possess a degree in business, accounting or commerce, with subsequent relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevance and/or training/education. The applicant will have a strong interest in finance work, proficient computer skills especially with accounting systems and spreadsheets, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. You are able to work in an autonomous manner, demonstrate initiative, and maintain confidentiality. Previous experience in the higher education sector is highly desirable.

Remuneration: This is a full-time, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 6 for 3 years. The remuneration package will be in the range $69,947.28 - $75,374.21 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $81,838.32 - $88,187.83 p.a.).
