The Messengers Program, managed by Tuggeranong Arts in the ACT, is an early intervention program for young people aged 12- 25, experiencing mental health problems.
The Messengers Support Worker works closely with students participating in art classes across the ACT, supporting students who have additional needs and may require additional support services. He/she will develop creative pathway plans with students to assist them to achieve their goals and possibly continue their journey into the arts and further education.
This position is part time – approx.25 hrs per week- and operates within school hours; some after hours and weekend work is required. The position is fixed term contracts until June 30 2016.
This position requires professional qualifications in human services/social work or a related area.
Remuneration will be subject to skills and qualifications.
This position requires demonstrated experience of having worked with young people at risk and a solid understanding of mental health and wellbeing in young people.
An understanding of creativity as a tool for self-development and healing is essential and any artistic skills are welcomed.
