FACILITY: Thompson General Hospital
Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) assumes professional responsibilities and complies with clinical practice standards and regional policies and procedures for the coordination and delivery of patient care in the assigned areas. Works within a multidisciplinary team and functions within the provisions of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) Standards of Practice, Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Code of Ethics, and the Vision, Mission and Values of the Northern Health Region (NHR) in accordance with level of expertise, training, and experience. The RN has the authority to make clinical practice decisions and delegate duties to other health care workers as appropriate. The RN may be assigned Charge responsibility for a unit(s) and will be expected to assume those responsibilities.
The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/ Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check and adhere to all NHR policies and procedures.
Qualifications: Active practicing membership with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or eligible for Current BLS Heart and Stroke Healthcare Provider (c) certification; maintenance of certification is required, Unit specific clinical certificates, Violence Prevention, Unit Specific – Obstetrical, Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns (ACORN) or acceptable equivalent, Fetal Health Surveillance, Intrapartum Nursing, Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Must obtain training on breast-feeding within six (6) months of commencing a position
