Job Title Senior Officer-SHE Hygiene, Location Lime Acres

Job Description: Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be responsible to initiate, assist, advise, investigate, implement, audit and over-inspect the Ventilation system and associated activities within the area of responsibility.

Tasks and Responsibilities: Carry out inspections and report on all matters concerning Ventilation, Investigate all incidents which may occur relating to Ventilation, Make recommendations on routine inspections concerning Ventilation, Assist with internal/external audits, Co-ordinate Ventilation in the working place, Be prepared to work odd shifts and standby as per the departmental requirements, Implement an effective ventilation system in compliance with relevant legislation and controls, Be a team player, able to work under pressure in a mining environment

Minimum Requirements: Minimum Grade 12 with Maths and Science as subjects, Chamber of Mines Certificate in Mine Environmental Control, At least five years’ experience in a Hygiene Discipline in Mine Environmental Control, Experience in implementation of a ventilation project, Valid driver’s license (EB), Computer literate – MS Office Suite, Ventsim (or similar application) – please indicate on your application/CV, Blasting certificate will be an advantage

Other Skills/Competencies: Good verbal and written communication in English, Working knowledge of the MH&SA, OHS Act, Ventilation and Hygiene regulations, Strong interpersonal and organizational skill, Sense of accuracy and attention to detail – able to handle stress, Ability to function on own and as part of team

Preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups in line with the Company’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan. Pre-screening, profile testing, on mine assessments, medical and security clearance form part of the recruitment and selection process.
