Position Purpose:  To profitably grow the South African division to a position of market leadership in the Southern African ruminant and poultry markets.

Scope & Responsibilities: Country manager, Develop a comprehensive market strategy that leverages existing product portfolio and resources to meet immediate and emerging needs of the industry.  Develop and recommend business plans and operational requirements. Builds and staffs an effective organization to meet those requirements. Develop budgets and forecasts that support business success. Report to management on business progress and makes recommendations to ensure sustainable success. Insure clear segmentation of customers and markets and align resources to meet segment goals for growth and income, Identify and manage mutually beneficial distribution relationships, Build sales and marketing capabilities designed specifically to serve targeted species and customer segments and critical customers, Take full responsibility for the P&L of the South African market

Identify and capitalize on synergies between the MFA, Nutritional and Biological product lines and works to develop an expanded high-value, differentiated product portfolio in each species segment

Contribute to marketing and portfolio enhancement plans to drive growth in profitability and market share

Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organisation – in the South African market and to the Southern Oceans Region Director, Set the ethical tone for the organisation. As a subsidiary of a foreign-owned enterprise, including directly overseeing the administration and implementation of, and the compliance with, comapny policies, Accountable for achieving aggressive targets for revenue, gross margin and operating profit, Serve as primary liaison and contact person with companies in South Africa the company seeks to conduct business. Represent the corporate interests as needed or desired in South Africa. Calls directly on ruminant market customers.

Ruminants Business: Organize and manage relationships with key distributors, integrators, influencers, consultants and end users in territory. Main emphasis to be on beef feedlots. Develop the feedlot strategy and implementation plan, annual budgets for sales, GM and OPEX and achieve annual goals, Build momentum in the organisation’s business in the ruminant segment, with the key focus on in feed additives in feedlots. presumes 70% of time and energy, Build a network of resources to support key products, Represent the company and present at trade shows and industry events

Keeps abreast of trends in the field, reports and champions new thought with management in respective divisions, Enlist technical support resources as needed to efficiently and effectively meet customer and territory sales requirements. Develop and implement appropriate research and demonstration trials

Technical: In-depth knowledge Company’s and competitive products and applications, Good understanding of  the relationship between the technical aspects of the business and the South African regulatory environment, Working knowledge of the scientific basis of MFA and nutritional product lines and how products deliver value to producers. Has a strong understanding of ruminant nutrition. Working knowledge of scientific basis of MFA and Nutritional Product lines and how products deliver value to producers. Conversant in the current trends in husbandry of cattle

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the director Southern Oceans Region, and will, initially, have 6 direct reports and one consultant. Will also be responsible for the day to day running of the ruminants business. Will be responsible to build the organization to succeed.  Role serves as a management and commercial leader in the South African market, who will run the whole business while personally managing the ruminants business.
